Chinchero WeaversPeru has a long tradition of weaving, many of the sources of which are traced directly back to the Inca and tribes prior to the Inca. They are very practical people and their weaving traditions provided them with warm and beautiful clothing along with utilitarian objects used in everyday life. A classic mestana/manta/awayu from a weaver of the Q'ero tribe. This cloth is woven with Red, Black, Burgundy, Deep Forest Green with accents of Yellow, turquoise, green and fushia down the center. Many of the dyes used are natural. The symbol in this piece represents the Ch'unchu (people/jungle dwellers). The burgundy and black stripes represent the earth.

This cloth is woven with Red, Black, Burgundy, Royal Blue, with accents of Golden Yellow, green, orange and fushia. Many of the dyes used are natural. The symbol in this piece represents the Ch'unchu (people/jungle dwellers). The burgundy and black stripes represent the earth.
